The Thinnest 3-Dimensional Material in the Entire Known Universe.

20 Jul, 2009 by in TECH

Yes, materials, by nature, are 3D, but this one is the thinnest of them all. It’s also super-conductive, super flexible and makes steel look like a 90-lb weakling. At one atom thick, Graphene is the newest in materials being studied for applications in high-speed computers and other nanotechnology.

It’s a material that was first discovered in 2004, but since then, scientist have found new ways of adhering it to copper foil and most recently to silicon wafers using an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) solution allowing the Graphene to be detached. Why is this interesting?

Everyone knows it’s easier to get away from going through the menus by setting up keyboard shortcuts. We’ll assume you’ll use some, but what we’re going to focus on is keeping your cursor on the work area and keyboard shortcuts to a minimum.

It’s all done through the ‘Shortcut Bar’. It may hurt the habits a bit, but it’s oh so much nicer when you use these tips.

3D. Future. Interface. Oblong’s G-Speak User Environment

18 Nov, 2008 by in TECH

john-underkoffler-3d-futureThere is a mess of media with multi-touch this amd multi-touch that, but the single person that inspiring much of it is none other than futurist, John Underkoffler. You may not have seen him, but you would recognize his ideas for human-computer interfaces that have appeared in IronMan as well as Minority Report, Hulk and Aeon Flux.

He is now the chief scientist and part of the team working on the g-speak ‘spatial operating environment’ from oblong industries. Here’s the details and video of how you may be working in the future.
