Yes, it’s true. We here at SolidSmack lover your comments. In fact we love them so much, in addition to providing reasonably sized delectables to tiny dogs, we keep the Disqus comment system updated… and apologize to people whose comments have been sitting in the Spam folder for three week. yeah, sorry about that.

If you haven’t commented recently or at all, check out the bottom of each post. You can use you facebook account, create a Disqus profile or just stay anonymous.

There’s also new options for ‘Like’ing a comment (see below). Whatever you do, rest assure, your comments will be embraced… in a cool and not at all creepy way.

User Comment: Opening Up CAD Standards. Cool or Not Cool?

Each week, I’m going to start posting a comment from one of you wonderful readers that take the time to comment in the posts. I see a lot of discussion being missed, and that is just sad, don’t ya think? Here’s the first one.

In a previous article on OpenGL and Direct3D, a commenter named Mike made a really good point about the open source state of CAD and API standards. I agree with him, but there’s a lot more to it than software being tied to an OS and getting it all for free. Think of what companies like Google are doing.

Do we need open standard for 3D CAD?
