If you’re in charge of implementing SolidWorks or in charge of bribing IT with chili-cheese fries to install it, you now have to consider the ramification of upgrading to the new version… or throwing caution to the wind and just going for it. Either way, if you’re on subscription, you can download SolidWorks 2011 from the Customer portal.

Ask the Reader: Do You Have A Software/Hardware Upgrade Plan? {Poll}

Well, heavens ta Betsy! There are software and hardware updates exploding from every pore of the hairless cat of technology and you’ve just now realized your software and hardware are about 5 years old. Time does fly.

However, I’m bettin’ a bag of chips that several of you out there, or your savvy IT groups, have an upgrade plan in place to capture the bliss of new software releases and shiny hardware pieces. How do you handle the waves of technology? Do you even have a plan? What works for you?

Ask the Reader: What Do You Love/Hate About Upgrading to SolidWorks 2009?

Ah, it’s that special time of year. That time of year when we consider the ramifications of firing a harpoon gun blindly into the air and also the pain of asking the IT department about upgrading to the next version of SolidWorks.

Point that spear away from the whirring server room and settle in. If you’ve upgraded from 2008 or previous to 2009, you probably have reasons for why or why not to do it. So, what’s your experience? What do you love or hate about upgrading to SolidWorks 2009?
