Lame. You so, do not have enough playful-looking, plastic figurines sitting on your desk or hanging out of your pockets. (This is the part where two small Korean children suddenly appear with giant smiles and laughter.)

Yes. I agree. “awesome cool slap slap.” Sumajin, maker of iPhone cases and other tech accessories has their own toy line too. You guessed it, the Flex Champion, a customizable figure rockin’ the monochrome and developed in Alias Design.

The design process? oh yeah, they have one of those as well. Here’s the idea behind the toy, the familiar process they used to create it and the plasticy joy that resulted.

An Industrial Design Experiment In Open Source Awesomeness: The 100K Stray Toasthed Pull Toy

If you could shake yourself into a dazzling display of idea-producing power, you would still have just that, an idea. Some get lucky and have a prototype, but mostly we just sit on our ideas.

C. Sven Johnson is going one step further with the 100K Stray Toasthed Pull Toy project. He has taken an idea, turned it on to the public and is going open source baby. First, go support the project, then see the process that will make you want to watch what happens and maybe even try it yourself.

Toy Manufacturers Will Die February 10, 2009

It’s time to get all activism on ya. Imagine just getting a seat of your favorite 3D CAD software with plans to create some sweet kids products.

Imagine being a small toy manufacturer, a hobby woodworker that sells wooden kid’s toys online, or somebody that makes cool robot dolls. In Feburary of 2009, you will have to shut down or break the law.
