The Rockinest Rock Face in the World of MCAD Social Media @matthewwest

10 Feb, 2010 by in ROCKIN'

Last Week at SolidWorks World, I had a short sit down with Matthew West, master of social media computing at SolidWorks. We talked all about social media this and social crap crap that until everyone in the room around us was hugging and tweeting each other.

We didn’t get into it, but I know he’d probably agree with me that the number one, most important thing about rockin’ your brand from forums to Facebook, whether you’re a corporation or cab driver, is the profile image. If it doesn’t say rockin’ people won’t come a’knockin… or something.

So, I’ve done a new profile image up for Matt, created from a montage of images taken as he summoned all the musical angst and inspiration of his past. Rock on Matt.

LetsGoDesign.tv Kicked Into Gear With the ’33 All-Electric Hot-Rod

08 Feb, 2010 by in DESIGN

Well, it’s happened. Someone at SolidWorks had a few too many no-doze with NOS chasers (and I’m almost positive) shot through the Concord office with fire spraying from their back screaming, LET’S GO DESIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGN!!!!!!!!! It was effective.

Starting last week, LetsgoDesign.tv is up and running. There’s not any actual video yet, but the tone is set I tell ya, and the boy droppin’ that tone is SolidWorks own Jeremy Luchini. He’s got the idea that you’ll submit an idea and the community will go through the process of making it happen. Sounds like a great idea to me.

It was kicked of with a related project SolidWorks was a part of late last year. An All-electric ’33 Hot Rod. The SolidWorks World attendees got a chance to kick the tires and have their dreams shattered of not being able to ever drive or own one. I did some diggin’ on the project. Here’s the juice.

Future of SolidWorks. On the Mac, in the Cloud, In Your Face.

01 Feb, 2010 by in NEWS

I seriously do not know where to start after my eyeballs have been water-boarded with sweet, nerd-core tech that was the SolidWorks World Day 1, General Session. With it being the single best session I can remember out of all I’ve been to, there’s plenty to talk about. However, the big news is this… SolidWorks on the Mac. And not only on the Mac… SolidWorks on Linux, Windows, Chrome OS or even Firefox…. but it doesn’t stop there.

Bang Shalang Dang. SolidWorks World 2010 In Effect

31 Jan, 2010 by in NEWS

I’m so close to SolidWorks World 2010, I can almost smell the enormous influx of SolidWorks geekery blanketing the So Cal city of Anaheim over the next week.

This is going to be my 4th SolidWorks World, with an unexplainable gap between thoroughly enjoying the very first SWW out in Palm Springs and the last three in San Diego, Orlando and now, Anaheim.
