21.3 Inches of Wacom Cintiq Multi-touch Spotted In the Wild

11 Feb, 2010 by in TECH

There’s a multi-touch rash starting to spread across the butt-checks of CAD that no penetrating ointment will cure. So, when SolidWorks demonstrated their future platform independent MCAD platform it was no surprise to see some multi-touch features thrown into the mix.

However, what’s supremely interesting is not the multi-touch, but the device being multi-touched. It’s what we thought looked very much like a Wacom 21UX Cintiq. EXACTLY like one, except one major difference. It had both stylus and those fancy multi-touch capabilities.

So, after quite a bit of digging and verifying through a few channels what we suspected, it’s confirmed this is indeed a prototype Wacom Cintiq Multi-touch with a tentative retail appearance slated for Update Summer 2010 (this has been recanted by Wacom, however I will make the assertion that we will see this Q4 of 2010.) Here are the shots from the show.

04 Jan, 2010 by in TECH

If you woke up this morning wondering what the new decade is going to offer you after your merry stroll into work, SolidWorks has some ideas that include having hands, a very large interface, and a couple friend that are as giddy about new tech as you are.

Put your future hats on and… just forget the future hats. They look silly. Instead, strip down that chair massager you got for Christmas to the bare wires, plug that sucker in and have a seat as you watch the first video SolidWorks has release in their new ‘Let’s Go Design’ campaign.

Windows7 and More. How Will You Use 3D CAD in 2010?

29 Oct, 2008 by in TECH

how will multitouch in windows 7 be used with solidworksThe news about Windows7, Microsoft next OS, has been pouring out of the seething cauldron of Microsoft PDC this week, getting all the fanboys and multi-touch crazies in a ruckus.

Are you all just extremely AMPPED? No? Well, for those gnashing their teeth over Vista, the new OS promises to be the escape Microsoft wants to provide it’s ever so constrained loyal user base, and they plan to provide it even before 2010 gets here.

However, this raises some interesting questions for 3D CAD users. Multi-touch navigation across the screen? How will display technology develop? What engineering design companies are aware of these technology changes? Enjoy a very choppy preview video, my thoughts and your opinions after the break.
