Last Week at SolidWorks World, I had a short sit down with Matthew West, master of social media computing at SolidWorks. We talked all about social media this and social crap crap that until everyone in the room around us was hugging and tweeting each other.

We didn’t get into it, but I know he’d probably agree with me that the number one, most important thing about rockin’ your brand from forums to Facebook, whether you’re a corporation or cab driver, is the profile image. If it doesn’t say rockin’ people won’t come a’knockin… or something.

So, I’ve done a new profile image up for Matt, created from a montage of images taken as he summoned all the musical angst and inspiration of his past. Rock on Matt.

An Open 3D CAD Design Tools Directory? Will It Happen?

Oh now behave yourself. It’s a simple question, but one we can throw a truckload of speculation at and shake it vigorously to come up with all sorts of outlandish ideas. ya down?

Mozilla Labs launched their Open Web Tools Directory today. It’s the new central repository mish-mash of design and coding tools to aid the most hardcore web developers pour their creations onto our screens – all of them available for the price of free. Now, what happens if we apply this to the whole 3D CAD/PLM space… besides pure mayhem and ensuing violence from VAR to partner product?

Vuuch Product Review: Slapping Discussion Across the Face of Design

If you had one thing to change about how you discussed design iterations, what would it be? I can imagine a few ways, starting with destroying useless email conversations and firing that one guy who can’t seem to do anything on his own.

Unfortunately, there’s no program to make people more competent, but there is one that is on the way to reducing email congestion and refine the design process. Vuuch. And it’s about time we had a look at what it does.
