Goodbye Adobe, Brushes, Layers and anyone else trying to dominate the iPhone Sketch app market. AutoDesk just release the 1.1 update to their Sketchbook Mobile app.

I just upgraded and tried it out. If you were not convince from the earlier Sketchbook Mobile Review and Comparison to other apps, this time around you will be. It rocks much harder now and has (almost) all the things it was lacking in the 1.0 version. Here’s the run-down on the new features and a slick little video montage of the goods.

Smack! The Complete Guide to SolidWorks Layout Sketches

Oh man, your SolidWorks assembly is looking a little crooked my friend. In fact, I’d say it’s just about to tip over and probably hurt a small family of mice or a vagabond waiting for you to set some scraps out on the porch.

I’m going to suggest a way to improve assembly creation, so take a couple slow breaths, have a pot of coffee and avoid the loose boards over in the corner by the shedding dog.

With SolidWorks 2008 came the ability to add Sketch Layouts to drive all the parts in your assembly. Sound formidable? Well, there’s not much in the SolidWorks Help, so here’s all you need to get up to speed with the amazingly sturdy world of SolidWorks Sketch Layouts.

How To Use 3D Sketches To Reduce SolidWorks Features

solidworks-tipsHere’s a slightly useful and not-at-all complicated tip on reducing features by using 3D sketches. It’s more fun to have people gather around your desk, get all attentive and then yell the first step very, very loud as they hunker down around your screen… Now move in close people…

Two Tips in One
This is really two tips in one. What a deal. I’ll show how to create a plane at any angle against a curved surface and do it with a minimum number of features, all thanks to the handy 3D-ness of the 3D sketch tool. There’s a video later on, but here’s the step-by-step.
