SC-Motion Brings Buttery Simulation to SpaceClaim

21 Dec, 2011 by in NEWS

I remember back in the day when we had to actually build mock-ups with telekinetic powers our hands to simulate mechanical motion. Fortunately, our fancy 3D CAD programs take away the need for cardboard scraps and paper cuts. The crew doing it up right on the SpaceClaim side is AR-CAD who has created SC-Motion, a new motion and dynamic simulation add-in for the format-friendly direct modeling application. This means no more long hours convincing your loved ones that you need five small goats and a box of styrofoam to simulate the motion of your triumphal entry into the grocery store. SC-Motion is available to try free for a limited beta release. Video and features after the jump.

Sweet, Eye Melting Momentum Multiphysics for
Softimage, Not for CAD.

23 Sep, 2011 by in CAD, ROCKIN'

Oh, how wonderful the feel of a digital explosion across your screen. Am I right? YES. How’s it happen? Exocortex Technologies. They’ve released Momentum 3, a slick multiphysics engine for Autodesk Softimage. While it’s not useful for anything mildly related to the usual cadre of CAD apps we talk about on SolidSmack, it does give us a chance to complain that this technology is still not used in any of them… sad. to. say. First take a look at what Exocortex and others are bringing to the wonderful world of physical simulation.

Eyelid Tearing Multiphysics from Lagoa is a Thing of Beauty

21 Jul, 2010 by in ROCKIN'

My eyeball lids have peeled back over my head… by themselves. I think I feel pain, but I don’t know, because I’m in shock at the coolness I’m seeing.

Even though there’s nothing this cool in 3D product development, we can imagine if there were… and the time wasted throwing our virtual designs into the sides of virtual walls. Lagoa Technologies Inc, a start-up by Thiago Costa, is showing off his first version of their Multiphysics solver. Definitely keep an eye on this company. Oh, and slap some Vaseline on those eyelids, they’re about to be torn.

Somebody. Please Make 3D CAD Look This Cool.

21 May, 2008 by in ROCKIN'

There’s not enough explodin’ stuff in CAD these days. It’s all sketch this, extrude that. So, when I saw this, I just had to show it to you. Some of the 3D visualization out there just amaze me. But this video, blows my mind.

TSNStudio’s Extreme LoadingĀ® is an engineered simulation technology originally designed for structural analysis…Extreme LoadingĀ® quickly generates iterative visuals with the added realism of material based physics.”

Yeah, that’s not CAD right? We don’t need the fancy images and effects to build a suitable valve clamp huh? But you gotta admit, having a 3D CAD System that is as realistic as possible would be really fun to use.
