Jim Heppelmann. Dassault Arrogant Competition. Siemens Invisible.

3D Human CAD Models

I love the product development industry drama. It’s so RAW beneath it’s cordial, feature-rich exterior. Hard to imagine what would happen if you put all the execs together in a room full of garlic water balloons and large sticks… but not really.

In a user conference room away from each other, it’s a little tamer. But oh, the words. They are plentiful. In a playful, little, jabby type of way Jim Heppelmann, next CEO of PTC, made a few comments about their competition. It received some laughs and added just the right dose of drama.

Google Trends for 3D CAD Companies: Whose Competing?

23 Jun, 2008 by Josh Mings in RESOURCES

Last week on June 20th, Google Trends for websites was launched to allow a look into competing sites and aid your plans for worldwide domination. Similar sites, like Compete (my favorite) and Alexa already exist, but this leverages the power of Google’s simple, yet masterful use of analytical data.

Well, last weeks mystery tip about PhotoWorks DOF. I get a bit of emails asking questions about SolidWorks and alot of them are really good questions that I’d love to turn into posts. So once again that’s what we’re gonna do.

First Person to Ask a Question
The first person to asks a question about SolidWorks in the comments below will turn this post into a 100% grade-A topic for everyone to join in on. All I ask, is that it’s not a question like, why does SolidWorks suck or can eyes really pop out of their socket… this is serious stuff people.

So ask away, chime in if you know the answer, and we’ll crank out another topic that will send people home to their families in a pleasant mood.

The Mystery Question IS…

UPDATE: Steve Calvert ask… “Will Solidworks follow Siemens (UGS) with more direct modeling techniques or are we just stuck with history based modeling?”

Whoa Steve, you are opening up all sorts of debate! :)
