Can you just smell the sizzle of fusion happening? I can. The MCAD atmosphere is beginning to get a little bit warmer and a tad amount crispier than last week. Why, you ask? Autodesk slipped their fresh slab of direct modeling tech back into the ovens to broil and today they have released it upon the masses.

Yes, Autodesk Fusion has been updated to actually add the ‘Fusion’ bits. While the first go around left a lot of questions, this version shows you a little more about the direction Fusion is headed and why Inventor plays a really big part of it all.

Everything in the Entire World Marked Down to $99… Including Alibre Design

In a move to spur economic growth and increase market share, EVERYTHING… in the entire world… has been marked down to a bare-bottom price of, yes, $99.

In actuality however, the only things that have been marked down are two pair of all-season radials, Coast-to-Coast Flights on JetBlue and Alibre Design Standard. Yes, Alibre, arch rival of Inventor, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Pro/E and SpaceClaim, has slashed the price of Alibre Design Standard from $999 way down to $99.

Usable 3D Geometry Please. Could There Ever Be a SolidWorks ‘Catalyst’?

Raise your eyebrow in a menacing way if you’ve ever received a really crumby .pdf, concept print or model data to create a production model from? If only there was a little more info or a way that the data could be transformed into usable 3D parametric data huh?

Adobe has just release a interesting program from their Labs called Flash Catalyst (formerly codename ‘Thermo’). It allows graphics designers to create user interfaces… without coding, transforming the graphics into working examples that developers can then use to complete a website or app.
