I’ve got a bat. Actually, I have 10 little bats and they’re shaped suspiciously like fingers. Don’t worry, they’re mine and they’re ready to gouge the eye of technology… repeatedly, with lots of details, photos, unnecessary screaming and a skull that looks oddly like meat.

Yes, it’s time to take a look at the HP EliteBook 8740w you saw the bear unboxing and contest announcement of last week. It’s the most feature-rich computer I’ve used, and there are some interesting things I think you’ll like to know.

Technology is changing and growing faster than your mangy hair. And like the hair, it’s time to think about a little trim and a wee bit o’ style.

Not so long ago, many ‘CAD technicians’ used a tablet menu to pick and click their way to 2-dimensional, layer switchin’ bliss. We’ve seen a transition, moving away from menu tablets to on-screen menus, on through marking menus and mouse gestures, and then back picking commands via touch-screen. Product development is heading for a change as are the devices we use. So, in the future…

Don’t ya just love slapping down a couple grand for a smokin’ hot 3D model pumpin’ workstation? There’s a whole heap memory-laden machine to smooth out design, render and simulate, but there’s comes a point when you hear what has worked best for others.

Today we take a look at the magnificence of a perfect mobile workstation… Perfect from a sense that it works pretty darn good to run mid to high range 3D CAD apps while streaming music.
