Jon Hirschtick Resigns from DS SolidWorks

What was Jon Hirschtick even doing at SolidWorks? He may have ben asking himself the same question. After starting the company in 1993, serving as CEO and then as a member on the executive board for the majority of his time with SolidWorks, Jon has turned in his “immediate resignation.” GraphicSpeak broke the news, citing an email sent out to SolidWorks employees.

…there was no mass hysteria, freestyle finger punching or the slightest mention of how to blow a wasabi peanut out your nose. Disappointing? No.

Earlier this week, I had the privileged of spending 2 days with 8 other bloggers as guests to the SolidWorks User Experience Group, Labs, and Product Development Team. Yep, they flew in some bloggers, people that write about SolidWorks, sure, but these people are also users, some of which are beta testing and providing direct feedback to development on SolidWorks 2010. Wow…Wow… BlackJack… Jon Hirschtick… Wow

Instead, it was a night spent learning how to win at BlackJack. The strategy, the running count and all the tricks in between. How? It’s started on Twitter. BlackJack in Jon Hirschtick’s suite 19-107 at 9:30.

The History of CAD. The Future of CAD. Jon Hirschtick

jon-hirschtickThe Press at SWW08 got a special presentation from Jon Hirschtick, founder of SolidWorks and CEO up till 2001. He’s an MIT grad and should know a thing or two about CAD history and the future possibilities since, ya know, he’s been a large part of making it happen.

Jon is also a Keynote speaker at this years SolidWorks World. Who knows what he’ll be talking about, but if it’s anything like this presentation, it’s bound to be informative and entertaining.
