Autodesk University 2010: The Interesting Things To Know

I’d like to say that what you’re about to read might be the most interesting things happening at AU2010, but I won’t… because they ARE the most interesting things happening at AU2010.

You may have seen some of the Autodesk projects and programs coming out. They’re exploring the options of product development software and giving us a glimpse at what Autodesk is poking their porous, multi-faceted nose of design into. What else are they talking about? Take a look.

Project Lightning. PTC Strikes a Plan for the Future of MCAD

Crack out the Faraday suits and rev up those Tesla Coils, PTC is stirring the air with talks about their endeavor to define and possibly redefine (thunderous clap and loud echoing voice) THE FUTURE of MECHANICAL CAD!! CAD CAD!!

We’re out at PTC/USER 2010 in Orlando, Florida and we’ve found out as much as possible about the gameplan PTC has for product development. Could it be a new product? A new platform? Or perhaps their position on that Cloud mess and how to deliver apps to the user? Hmmm. Here’s what we know and what we think it might be.

What’s SolidWorks Developing? Check Out their Job Listings… Cloud, Mac, Sketch

Do you see those three words? Cloud, Mac, and Sketch? The triumvirate of contemporary CAD computing, those are by golly, and if you’re CAD slappin’ 3D code pro or have a little marketing and management panache, SolidWorks is hiring.

What’s more interesting, and also no big surprise, is what job titles these lie under. There’s definitely a drive from SolidWorks to continue to pursue development in the three areas listed and that means plenty of critics to voice their opinion, haters to hate, fanboys to drool and apparently, jobs to kick CAD development into high gear.

No matter what the job, that’s a good thing. Check this out.
