First, I totally GANKED (part of) that headline from the Inforbix post on the same topic. That’s how I roll. But let’s hold back the onslaught on data digging for a sec and address something. Inforbix. I understand. It’s hard to say it… without shredding your throat lining by screaming it as loud as you can. So, go ahead. Get it out of your system. Now, let’s move on. Inforbix has launched. What is it? From their site, “Inforbix is a web-based data consumption solution available for purchase on a yearly subscription basis.” In other words, search all of your CAD data, wherever it is, from wherever you are. The base package is FREE. We’ve covered how it works. Here’s how to get started using it.

Project Lightning. PTC Strikes a Plan for the Future of MCAD
Crack out the Faraday suits and rev up those Tesla Coils, PTC is stirring the air with talks about their endeavor to define and possibly redefine (thunderous clap and loud echoing voice) THE FUTURE of MECHANICAL CAD!! CAD CAD!!
We’re out at PTC/USER 2010 in Orlando, Florida and we’ve found out as much as possible about the gameplan PTC has for product development. Could it be a new product? A new platform? Or perhaps their position on that Cloud mess and how to deliver apps to the user? Hmmm. Here’s what we know and what we think it might be.
PLMPlus Dawns the Red Gloves of Simplified, Internet-Based, On Demand PLM.
I’m sorry if you bit off two of your fingers with delight while reading that headline, but believe it. PLM and simple in the same sentence, along with a completely obscure red glove metaphor? How can that be?
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is renowned for it’s complex implementation and lengthy training period. So, what if PLM were simple? Something that you didn’t have to implement. Something that you didn’t have to maintain. Something that could be accessed from (almost) anywhere. That is the aim of PLMPlus.
We had a heckuva phone conversation with Benny Shaviv yesterday and got the scoop on his fresh new venture, which by the way, recently received $4 Million in round A funding. Looks like someone thinks they’re stirring things up a little. We do too. So, we slammed Benny a very relevant case study type of question… that didn’t even phase him at all. He may be a robot, but most likely he really understands what his biz is about. Take a look.
AutoDesk Gets SaaSy. Inventor, Maya and More… in the Cloud.
Yesterday, AutoDesk goes and launches the Sketchbook Mobile iPhone App. Today? Cloud city, baby. AutoDesk has cranked up the bandwidth on the West Coast to allow the ability to run trial version of certain AutoDesk software via their servers.
The only problem? You have to be within a specific geographical area. Looks to be within a 1000 mile radius of the Lab in San Fransisco. So, if you’re floating in the Pacific off the coast, have fun. If you’re in Idaho, get back to the potato fields. Here’s a little more info.
